World War One Medals

1914 Star The 1914 Star was issued to the British Expeditionary Force and their immediate reinforcements, who crossed into Belgium and France.

1914 - 1915 Star This star was issued to all (approximately 2,336,000) who saw service in any theatre of conflict against the central powers between 05 August 1914 and 31 December 1915, except for those who were eligible for the 1914 Star.

British War Medal The British War Medal 1914 - 1920 was awarded to all forces of the British Empire and was issued to anyone who had served in uniform or who had been employed in an "authorised" service.

Victory Medal This is a yellow bronze medal, which is also known as the Allied Victory Medal. This is because the Allied nations, decided to issue a standardised medal and ribbon, so as to avoid the mass exchange of medals.

Mercantile Marine Medal This medal was awarded by the Board of Trade to personnel who had served at sea for not less than 6 months between 04 August 1914 and 11 November 1918 and had made at least one voyage through a war or danger zone.

Territorial Force Medal This medal was authorised by Army Order 143 and was awarded to members of the Territorial force who were members of the service on 4 August 1914 and to those who had completed 4 years service before 4 August 1914, as long at they had rejoined on or prior to 30 September 1914.

Silver War Badge Awarded to service personnel who were invalided out of the forces due to a wound or sickness that was a result of the war.
