

India General Service Medal 1908 - 1935
Details reference the India General Service Medal 1908 - 1935 were sanctioned under an Army Order, dated December 1908. In 1909 the medal was approved by King Edward VII.
There were 3 obverses of this medal. The first type shows King Edward VII in a Field Marshal's uniform, with "EDWARDVS VII KAISAR-I-HIND" around the outer edge.
The second type shows a crowned and robed King George V, with "GEORGIVS V KAISAR-I-HIND" around the outer edge.
The third type shows a crowned and rbed King George V, with " GEORGIVS V D G BRITT OMN REX ET INDIAE IMP" around the outer edge.
The reverse shows a Jamrud fortress, commanding the Khyber Pass, with the name "INDIA" below within oak and olive branches, tied with a ribbon at the base. The ribbon is green with a central blue dark stripe.
The medal was always issued with a clasp. The following clasps were issued:
