General Service Medal 1918-62 with Malaya Clasp
The Malaya clasp was authorised under Army Order No 58, which was released in 1950.
The medal was released under the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth type of obverse.
The qualification period for the clasp for the Army was one or more days service in the Federation of Malaya or Singapore between 16 July 1948 and 31 July 1960.
There were approximately 100,000 British servicemen who served in Malaya over the qualification period, many of which were carrying out their National Service.
